God
THE BIBLE ONLY – An early Adventist author placed emphasis on Jesus Christ, the living Word of God, and was firm in her view of God’s Written Word - the Scriptures. She believed personal Bible study was of the utmost importance for every Christian, and especially so in the closing days of earth’s history. In her first book (1851) she wrote: "I recommend to you, dear reader, the Word of God as the rule of your faith and practice” EW 78
“God has committed to men the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the revealer of doctrines, and the test of experience” (The Great Controversy, p. vii). "Quote the Bible. Talk the Bible. It is full of meat, full of fatness. Carry it right out in your life, and you will know more Bible than you know now. It is only through the unmerited grace of Christ that any man can find entrance into the city of God. No one is privileged above another, nor can anyone claim the reward as a right. The reward is not of works, lest any man should boast; but it is all of grace." “Christ and Him crucified should be the theme of contemplation, of conversation, and of our most joyful emotion.” E.G. “Your Christian life may be a sacred thing; you may say, “Christ saved me by His blood, He has given me an experience of grace; God has proved His grace in my heart”: but you may confess, “I haven’t got the real life of abiding fellowship, the winds and the waves often terrify me, and I sink.” Oh, come out of the boat of past experiences at once; come out of the boat of external circumstances; come out of the boat, and step out on the Word of Christ, and believe, “With Jesus I can walk upon the water.” Andrew Murray, Out of His Fullness, 1897
- Job 23:11 “My feet have closely followed His steps; I have kept to His way without turning aside” . God wants to make our spirituality, our faithfulness, and our daily walk with Him so enjoyable and easy that even a little child can follow His Way. We do not always understand this, but we only need a little faith to be able to take that first step and follow Him. The way to be a Christian is to follow Jesus, our Lord and Savior. As we follow Him, the path we take leads us in one clear direction - growing daily towards His goals for our lives, including getting ready for Eternity.
- Genesis 3:8; 5:24 “They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” “Enoch walked with God.”
- Leviticus 26:12 “I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.”
- John 10:29, 30 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
- Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
- Colossians 2:6, 7 “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught.”
- Jude 1:25 “To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”
- Revelation 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
